How to Start a Nutritional Conversation:

This module empowers veterinary receptionists to confidently support client nutrition conversations, helping improve pet health outcomes and strengthen client relationships.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • Explain why nutrition is essential for pet health and prevention.

  • Discuss nutrition clearly, supportively, and knowledgeably with clients.

  • Build client trust and satisfaction through nutrition conversations.

  • Understand how early nutrition guidance helps prevent future issues.

 

Determining a Clients “Readiness to Change”:

This module explores how to recognise a client’s stage of readiness to change and tailor your communication, through questions, listening, and observation, to guide them effectively.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • Learn the five stages of change and their relevance to pet-care conversations.

  • Identify client readiness using verbal and non-verbal cues.

  • Use targeted communication tools to support clients at each stage.

  • Build self-awareness and apply additional learning resources.

This course is included in BVRA membership and is available in Small Animal, Farm Animal, Equine Practice and Referral Practice versions.

All our courses are delivered online through the BVRA learning management system and are available on demand, meaning you can access them at a time that suits you. You can also go back over the courses as often as required. All our courses are either in written or video format or a combination of both. Videos are available with closed captions.

Course lengths vary depending on the subject. Most of the BVRA membership training courses are no more than an hour in length. Some of the more in-depth training courses, such as the BVRA Intermediate course, may take several hours to complete.

Yes. On successful completion of any of our courses, you will be able to download a BVRA Certificate of Completion, which can contribute to your Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Not at all! No formal qualifications are required for most of our courses, just an interest in developing your skills as a veterinary receptionist.

No, you do not need to be a member to complete any of our training that is not included in BVRA membership. These courses are available for purchase on our website. However, courses that are included as part of BVRA membership are only accessible to registered members.
