British wildlife casualties are commonly presented to veterinary practices and all vets and veterinary practices have a professional obligation to provide first aid and emergency care to these animals. This talk will cover the relevant legal protection of common British wildlife species, RCVS obligations, and public roles and responsibilities. Reception information for finders of sick and injured animals, appropriate advice on capture, and working with wildlife rehabilitation centres will all be discussed. The talk will be illustrated throughout with case examples.
